8 Week Christmas Countdown!
The Christmas holiday season is fast approaching. With less than 8 weeks until Christmas it’s time to get those Christmas party invites out there. But before we can do that we need to do some planning. There are only a limited amount of weekends in December and there are so many activities to do in this month. This is why the earlier the better for setting your party date and getting your invites out.
Things you may need to consider when deciding the date:
- Work Parties
- Kids Christmas Concerts
- Carols by Candlelight
- Other parties you have already been invited to
Unfortunately, you will not know all of these dates when deciding to hold your own, but do take them into consideration. The kids concerts maybe held in school hours or one evening through the week. You may have an idea from past work parties when they are being held and carols by candlelight could be a certain Friday night each year. Do some research before deciding if these are a priority to you!
Don’t forget that you don’t necessarily have to have the party on a Saturday night. Why not a Saturday or Sunday afternoon?
Setting a budget:
Knowing your budget for the Christmas party will help you to decide on a theme and the number of guests you would able to invite. You may also like to take the time now to decide on your gifting budget, this way you will not have the stress when it is time to go gift shopping for Christmas Day.
On a tight budget you should consider:
- Decorating with what you already have
- DIY your decorations
- Ask guest to either bring a bottle of wine and an entree to share or ask them to bring a plate and BYO drinks (they will not mind)
- Limit food to inexpensive but festive (you may need to give the prawns a miss)
Deciding on a Christmas Party Theme:
Depending on what part of the world you are celebrating Christmas, this will influence the type of theme party you will hold. Here are just some ideas:
- Pool party/ Water Play
- Inside with the air-conditioner – more formal
- Hot Meal – formal
- Ugly Sweater Party
- White Christmas
- Holiday Movie Marathon
- Christmas Carol Karaoke Night
- Christmas Pajama Party
- Gingerbread House Decorating Contest
- Cookie Decorating Contest
- Finger Food
- Maybe a colour theme eg: Red & White
Don’t forget to take into consideration – do you want to use:
- Disposable plates and cutlery
- Fine china
- Or maybe you want to do finger food
All of these things need to be taken into your budget consideration.
So now that you have made all the hard decisions, it is now time to get those invites out there and organise the best party on the street!
